Doctors of Chiropractic are different from any other health care professionals. Chiropractic treatment is a system of complementary medicine that manipulates bones and joints, especially in the spine, that can cause uncomfortable symptoms and physical problems. Chiropractic doctors diagnose and treat spinal subluxations, which are slight dislocations in a person’s spinal vertebra. Slight dislocations in the vertebra can cause all sorts of diseases and pain.

Not only does misalignment cause problems with pain in a person’s back, but the condition can also cause problems affecting the nerves, muscles and other parts of the body. Chiropractic treatments have been shown time and time again to give patients relief from their pain and symptoms in a non-invasive way.

What Conditions can be treated using Chiropractic treatments?

The Chiropractic Consultation

Make an appointment with us today. You will meet with Dr. Mark A. Scott, D.C. to discuss your health. He will also diagnose any problems you may be having with your joints, muscles and back as well as any other related chronic health problems you may be experiencing. You will both determine a course of action and potential treatment options. Realistic goals will be set, and you can get started on the road to recovery.

What can you expect from a chiropractic exam

Chiropractic treatments are relatively pain free. So are chiropractic examinations. Dr. Scott will test your reflexes, range of motion in many parts of the body, and some other basic tests to check your bodily function. Nothing will be done in his office without your consent.

After the examination, Dr. Mark A. Scott, D.C will give you the results of his findings. He will be able to tell you:

  • If chiropractic treatment will help you.
  • A diagnosis of your problems.
  • Tell you about your proposed treatment plan.

You may also have x-rays of your spine to get a closer look at your problem areas.

Chiropractic Treatment

The first chiropractic treatment will usually start at the end of your first examination. Several treatments can be applied to your particular case and specific needs. You may experience spinal adjustment, massage or other soft tissue therapies, and/or be given physical therapy to do. You may also need to discuss any concerns you have about your treatment plan with Dr. Scott, so you will understand what is going on and so you feel comfortable receiving treatments.

Other treatments may be recommended after the chiropractic session has ended. This might include ice and/or heat if you were sore before you came in to the appointment. You may be sore after the first few treatments as your spine adjust back to their appropriate spot. You may be instructed to avoid certain activities and positions that may aggravate your condition. You may also be given exercises to strengthen the muscles around your joints and spine in order to hold them in place better.

Our wellness team can also give you a wellness make over that can help you eat right, exercise properly, and promote your healing and well-being for the long term. This program will be individualized to your specific wants and health needs, since everyone is an individual. You will be taught the basics of good spinal health such as:

  • Proper posture
  • Good diet
  • Spinal alignment
  • Weight control
  • Supplements that will increase your health
  • Stress relief techniques

Is Chiropractic Treatment Painful?

In general, chiropractic adjustments are not painful. Usually all that is felt is a feeling of relief and a reduction in the amount of pain and pressure you are feeling in your neck or back. The pop or snap that you hear during an adjustment is not your bones cracking together, as some people erroneously think. The sound you hear when your spine is being adjusted is gasses moving from your joints.

What are the Benefits of Chiropractic Treatment?

The benefits of chiropractic treatments are many. No drugs and medications are used to soothe your pain, so you won’t need to be concerned about developing an addiction to your medications. Pain medications cover up the symptoms but do not take care of the root of the problem. Chiropractic treatments will fix the problem that started your pain, and keep you feeling better with no fear of addiction.

The biggest benefit, of course, is that you will feel better. Your pain levels will be greatly diminished or you will have no pain at all. You will notice your range of motion increasing, and your level of health and activity will increase, too. Feeling better might even improve your happiness level and your quality of life.

Using chiropractic treatments instead of drugs can be the key to opening the health you have been hoping for. Many people find relief for neck and back pain through drug-free, non-invasive chiropractic treatments that they couldn’t find using more traditional methods. Don’t wait, suffer and use chiropractic for a last result. Call Scott Chiropractic of Fort Collins today for an appointment and a consultation.
