Prenatal Chiropractic Information
When you are pregnant, your growing fetus can put stress on your spine beginning in the second trimester. This can affect your posture and the alignment of your pelvis and cause back pain. Lower back pain that is common during your third trimester can put stress on both you and the baby.
Prenatal chiropractic care can help with many of the discomforts of pregnancy. Adjustments are more gently applied and will be performed in a way that avoids putting pressure on your abdomen. Prenatal chiropractic care is not just for when you begin to experience the natural discomforts of pregnancy, it is effective for your entire pregnancy.
Treatment Expectations
As your baby grows, and more pressure is placed on your spine, your posture suffers and you ultimately may experience significant low back pain. You can expect to receive spinal adjustments that are more gentle in nature.
Women who receive prenatal chiropractic care can expect to have less discomfort in their lower back during the third trimester. Due to the focus on pelvic alignment, your baby will have more room to grow during development which reduces stress for both you and your baby.
Benefits of Prenatal Chiropractic Care
There are several benefits to seeking prenatal chiropractic treatment. These benefits include:
- Improved energy levels due to being able to maintain alignment of both your spine and your pelvis.
- Relief from nausea and other morning sickness symptoms.
- Relief from low back pain. Pregnancy puts pressure on your spine which can misalign it. Regular adjustments will keep your spine in alignment and back pain at a minimum.
- Improved sleep due to fewer discomforts.
- Best of all, most women report shorter labor and easier delivery after following a prenatal chiropractic regimen.

Yes. Your chiropractor will show you stretches that will help ease any tension you might experience as well as further easing discomfort in your lower back. Your pelvis will begin to change significantly as you approach your due date. These stretches can help your body adjust to these changes.
While prenatal chiropractic care can help you feel better during your pregnancy, always consult with your OB/GYN before seeing your chiropractor.
I have been seeing Dr. Scott for several years. He helped me through 2 awful car accidents. I would highly recommend him as he has helped me get back on my feet and now I only have to do check-ins a couple times a year(which is an improvement from daily after my accidents)! He is extremely knowledgeable and takes the time to get to know you as a patient so that he can assist you with your recovery in the best way possible!

This guy is insanely good. Or maybe its because other chiropractors in Fort Collins are all so bad, but I went in with a dislocated rib and winged scapula and he loosened my spine up and went to work. I’m going in for a second session tomorrow but I already feel tremendous improvement in my back/shoulder. He doesn’t do light adjustments – he gets in there and fixes it with immense effectiveness (yes, the cracking will be loud).

Fantastic! Yesterday was my first time ever seeing a chiropractor. Dr. Scott is very knowledgable and is excitable to have conversation with. He definitely treated me like a patient (like a doctor should) but the conversations were also personal, which made me feel easy. There was an issue with my medical card so I had to pay for it with a gift card. Once I called the company and came back to the office, Dr. Scott was very quick to take care of the refund and charge the correct card. Not one minute was a bad experience. Thank you!
